When can I make an appointment?

Our practice is accepting new clients and has immediate counseling and therapy appointments available in Bethesda, MD.

What type of appointments do you offer? How long are sessions?

We primarily meet with clients in-person at our office in Bethesda, MD. However, in certain cases where appropriate, we also offer electronic therapy and/or check-ins via phone. Sessions begin on the hour or half-hour.

Couples typically attend 80-90 minute sessions, to allow enough time for both partners to fully express themselves and make progress towards goals. Couples in discernment counseling follow a specific session format of individual and couple conversations that require 2 hour sessions. Two hour sessions are also available for couples not in discernment, but for whom the extra time is valuable.

Individuals and families typically come for 50 minutes, although sometimes longer sessions are helpful to address particularly challenging concerns.

Play therapy first appointments are 80-90 minutes, to include both individual play therapy time for the child, consultation for the parent(s), and assessment. Continuing play therapy appointments are typically 50 minutes, and include both individual play therapy time for the child and consultation for the parent(s).

Kaitlin Doyle and Lindsey Foss provide therapy in English and therapy in Spanish.

Our office is lap-baby and nursing mother friendly. Please arrange for child care during your appointment for children under the age of 12. Adolescents 13 and older may sit in our suite’s waiting room unsupervised during your session. Parents of a child in play therapy may keep siblings with them in the waiting room, where we have a few activities and books (children in the waiting room must be supervised by a parent).

Our office is LGBTQ friendly. The building offers single person, gender-neutral bathrooms. The building is accessible for people with disabilities.

How much does therapy cost?

Therapy is a smart investment in the relationships that are important to you, including your relationship with your self. Our counselors work hard to help you achieve therapy goals with your budget in mind. Adult clients typically begin to feel relief within two or three sessions, and many continue attending weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions to continue progressing towards goals and more satisfying relationships. Children and adolescents may experience relief within one to two months of therapy.

For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, all major credit cards, and HSA accounts with check/debit capability. There is no surcharge for weekend or evening appointments. All therapists charge the same fees:

Current rates:

50 minute session, $165
90 minute session, $285
120 minute session, $385

As of October 1, 2018 (session length change + per minute rate adjustment):

May I use my health insurance to pay for therapy?

We do not accept insurance as a direct form of payment, unless you are able to use your HSA checking account/debit card as a credit card. Our practice doesn’t work with insurance directly on your behalf; instead we can provide you with a Superbill to submit for reimbursement for out-of-network coverage. It’s a simple process, and most of our clients who submit Superbills receive 60-80% back from their out of pocket costs. Submitting for reimbursement does, however, require a mental health diagnosis. We have a high rate of success helping clients receive reimbursement for our therapy services in Bethesda, MD. Please contact us for further details if you are interested in submitting invoices for out-of-network reimbursement coverage.
