
About Emily Racic, PhD (she/her/hers)
Emily is currently on sabbatical and is not working as a therapist at this time.
Emily Racic, PhD (formerly Cook, she recently remarried!) is the owner and founder of Emily Cook Therapy, launched in 2014 (soon-to-be rebranded as the Capital Crescent Collective!). She provided individual therapy, couple therapy, and family therapy as a licensed marriage and family therapist from 2010-2022. Now, in addition to continuing to lead the practice, she is pursuing other creative and expansive endeavors drawing from her years of background in the science of relationships and direct experience helping people and systems change.
Emily Cook Therapy is a practice known for its team of warm, proactive, and understanding therapists. Emily was the founding President of Metro Marriage and Family Therapy, Inc., an organization serving marriage and family therapists across the Washington Metropolitan area. Emily is also a dedicated volunteer advisor to the Allay Foundation, a local organization whose mission is to provide access to mental health care to mothers in financial need – women who are pregnant or have a child under 12-months-old. Emily is ordained by the American Fellowship Church as a wedding officiant and is authorized to officiate wedding ceremonies in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
In 2018, Emily’s first relationship therapy book was published by Althea Press. The Marriage Counseling Workbook: 8 Steps to a Strong and Lasting Partnership is full of her best ideas, interventions, and metaphors to help couples pinpoint the cause of their troubles and recreate deep, lasting connections on their own at home. Emily grew up in Montgomery County and lives in Kensington with her family.
