About Caryn Malkus
Does your mind go into overdrive on a daily basis, causing you continual worry and anxiety? Do you find yourself feeling lost, stuck, or pulled in too many directions? Are you uncertain of how to bring happiness and positivity into your life?
You are not alone. Sometimes life feels difficult, and it is okay to admit that we don’t have all the answers ourselves, and we need some help getting over those rough patches.
I am here to help you. My passion is facilitating transformation so you can become the person you want to be. Together we will identify the barriers that prevent you from having positive, meaningful relationships with yourself and others. We will find ways to break out of ineffectual patterns, to communicate your needs and wants, and to take action towards your goals. We will work to understand and challenge your inner critic who wreaks havoc on your self-esteem.
What if you are struggling with your partner/ spouse to enjoy each other’s company, to feel connected, or to heal from some breach of trust? I have specialized training in a technique called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the most empirically validated treatment modality for couples. I help you identify negative patterns of interaction that keep you stuck in a state of disconnection with each other. I am an active orchestrator in the therapy room, guiding couples to find their way back to each other, to bolster their intimacy, to foster meaningful communication, and to repair their emotional bond.
My work with individuals, couples, and teens is collaborative, creative, and compassionate. My EFT background informs my work with all of these populations, yet I also integrate mindfulness and psychodynamic techniques into my practice. As a former educator, I bring expertise on how to work with teens and their parents to navigate developmental, relational and learning issues. Other specialties include parenting, life transitions, infertility, self-esteem, grief and loss, depression and anxiety.

From the moment I met Caryn, I instantly felt at ease by her calm, warm demeanor — and I know the people she works with in therapy feel the same way when they meet her. Caryn listens with her entire being, asks evocative questions, and shares insightful comments in sessions. She has this natural ability to help people feel heard, understood and supported; her clients leave sessions knowing that she truly cares about them and that they are not alone with their struggles. I am especially impressed by her specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples orchestrate a new emotional dance with one another. She is skilled at cutting through the “tit for tat” that couples get mired in, and helps them to develop a new way of interacting that creates connection, intimacy, and trust. Even the most distant and conflicted couples report increased closeness after only a few sessions with Caryn! I trust her deeply as a therapist and a human being, and I’m confident she’ll earn your trust quickly too.
Caryn Malkus is accepting new clients. She is available Tuesday and Thursday 8 AM to 4 PM, and Wednesday evenings from 4 PM onwards.
